Privacy Policy

Overview

TrailCam Manager ("the App", "we", "us") is a native iOS application developed by OpenTerrain for managing trail camera placements. We take your privacy seriously. This policy describes what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

We do not sell your data. We do not use advertising networks. We collect only what is needed to operate the App.

What We Collect

When you create an account and use the App, we collect:

Email address — used for account creation and login only
GPS coordinates — the latitude and longitude you choose to record for each camera placement
Placement data — camera labels, directions, dates, notes, and equipment details (SD card, battery info) that you enter
Placement photos — photos you optionally attach to placements, stored in private cloud storage

We do not collect location data in the background. GPS is only accessed when you explicitly tap "Use My Current Location" or open the offline GPS navigator, and only while the App is in the foreground.

What We Do Not Collect

We do not collect crash analytics, usage telemetry, or behavioral tracking data
We do not access your photo library except when you explicitly choose to attach a photo
We do not track your location in the background
We do not collect payment information — the App is sold through the Apple App Store and Apple handles all transactions

How Your Data Is Stored

Your data is stored using Supabase, a secure cloud database platform, with the following protections:

Row-level security ensures your account can only access your own data
All connections are encrypted in transit (TLS)
Placement photos are stored in private cloud storage — inaccessible without a valid authenticated session
Your data is never shared with or sold to third parties

The App also caches data locally on your device in the app's private documents directory to enable offline access. This local data is not accessible to other apps and is removed when you delete the App.

We do not use any advertising SDKs, analytics platforms, or social media integrations.

Data Deletion

You can permanently delete your account and all associated data directly inside the App at any time:

Settings → Delete Account

This immediately and permanently deletes your account credentials, all camera placements, placement history, and photos. This action cannot be undone.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
