Overview
StrikeLog ("the App", "we", "us") is a native iOS application developed by OpenTerrain.app for tracking fishing catches, spots, gear, and statistics. The App requires no account and sends no personal data to any server. Everything you enter stays on your device.
We do not sell your data. We do not use advertising networks.
What We Collect
The App stores the following data locally on your device only:
- Fishing data you enter — bodies of water, fishing spots, catch records, species, measurements, gear, notes, and technique
- GPS coordinates — latitude and longitude you choose to save for fishing spots. GPS is only accessed when you explicitly use a location feature while the App is in the foreground. We do not track your location in the background.
- Catch photos — photos you optionally attach to catch records, stored in the app's private documents directory on your device
- Weather snapshot data — temperature, wind, pressure, cloud cover, and moon phase fetched from Open-Meteo at the time of a catch when you request it. Only your GPS coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo; no personal data is included.
What We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect your email address, name, or any account information — no account is required
- We do not transmit your fishing data, spots, catches, or photos to any server we operate
- We do not collect crash analytics, usage telemetry, or behavioral tracking data
- We do not access your photo library except when you explicitly choose to attach a photo to a catch
- We do not track your location in the background at any time
- We do not collect payment information — the App is sold through the Apple App Store and Apple handles all transactions
How Your Data Is Stored
All data is stored exclusively on your device in the app's private documents directory. It is not accessible to other apps and is removed when you delete the App.
If you have iCloud Backup enabled on your device, Apple will include the App's documents directory in your iCloud backup. This backup is encrypted and controlled entirely by your Apple ID. We have no access to it.
The App's Settings tab lets you export a backup file manually and save it anywhere you choose (including iCloud Drive), and restore from that file on a new device. This is a local file transfer — no data passes through our servers.

Data Deletion
Because no data is stored on our servers, deleting the App from your device removes all data the App has stored. You can also clear all data at any time from within the App:
Settings → Clear All Data
This permanently deletes all waters, spots, catches, photos, and gear stored on your device. This action cannot be undone.
Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
